Emotional and sexual literacy at school
A training to introduce topics related to sexual and emotional health into the school context with children aged 5 to 10. In the framework of the eternal city of Rome.
Sexual education is an integral part of general education. The school is one of the primary contributors in this area: this short course helps introduce some of the main themes revolving around this topic with children. At the end of the course, participants will be able to know and use language and communication practices suitable for the age of children and the main themes related to sexual and emotional health.

Learning outcomes:
At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
– use a verbal and gestural language that favours the transmission of the educational message;
– teach children the perception of themselves and the people around them, what are the limits and potentialities of interacting with others;
– introduce the concept of consent from an early age;
– learn through workshops, communication practices appropriate to the age of the children and to the main themes related to sexual-affectivity.
Methodology
The methodology is based on a theoretical-practical approach based on multi-level communication.
During the first part of the course the theoretical aspects of sexual-affectivity will be addressed with a brief focus on:
– What Sexual-affectivity means;
– The importance of introducing these issues from an early age.
The main topics to be addressed in the classroom will be identified together with the educators. Afterwards, participants will be able to explore the main communication strategies to be implemented through workshop practice.

Vanessa Nirchi
I am a psychologist technician with experience in supporting women and children, working as an educator in shelters for mothers and children. Currently, I also work in a community for unaccompanied foreign minors, providing educational support and assistance in learning the Italian language. Additionally, I coordinated for several years a project promoting sexual and reproductive health for migrants people in camps in Greece and Cyprus. I have been part of CIAPE for a few years, focusing on European project design and training in the field of parenting.
